A Projeto CAPA volunteer feeding wild capybaras by the Pinheiros River in São Paulo

Projeto CAPA

São Paulo, Brazil

Projeto CAPA watches over the wild capybaras of São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, freeing them from trash and keeping them safe. The fences they installed cut road deaths from 15 in 2023 to 1 in 2026.

How we help real animals
Description

Capybaras are so relaxed that birds and even monkeys hop on their backs for a ride. The Capybara Mug with Mandarin Lid carries a little mandarin on its head instead.

  • Real size — holds about 450 ml (15 oz).
  • Ceramic capybara — a chubby sitting capybara in glossy glaze, with a chocolate-brown snout, tiny paws and a handle on its side.
  • Mandarin lid — a matching ceramic lid with two little brown ears and an orange mandarin with a green leaf on top.
  • Two colors — light brown or butter yellow.
  • Easy gift — for the capybara fan in your life (or for you, no judgment).

What you get
One capybara mug with its lid.

Care
Hand wash with warm, soapy water. Handle the lid gently: the little mandarin is ceramic too.

Meet Projeto CAPA

Along São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, Projeto CAPA looks after the capybaras who live right beside one of the city’s busiest roads. With their partner Belgo, they put up a protective fence along the riverbank, and it is working.
