In Brazil, capybaras are hit by cars every day. Many don't survive. The ones that do need urgent care — and that's where Projeto Capa comes in.

Projeto Capa is a wildlife rescue organization based in São Paulo, Brazil. Their team rescues injured capybaras from roadsides, provides veterinary treatment and rehabilitation, and releases them back into nature once they recover. Since 2018, they've helped hundreds of capybaras get a second chance at life.

Rescue
The team responds to road accident calls and rescues injured capybaras across São Paulo state.
Rehabilitate
Injured animals receive full veterinary care — surgery, medication, and months of recovery support.
Release
Once recovered, capybaras are released back into protected natural areas where they can live freely.
