A Projeto CAPA volunteer feeding wild capybaras by the Pinheiros River in São Paulo

Projeto CAPA

São Paulo, Brazil

Projeto CAPA watches over the wild capybaras of São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, freeing them from trash and keeping them safe. The fences they installed cut road deaths from 15 in 2023 to 1 in 2026.

How we help real animals
Description

Legend says the stocking tradition began when gold coins fell down a chimney and landed in socks left by the fire to dry. The Knit Christmas Stocking is ready for whatever lands in it this year.

  • Chunky red knit — deep red cable knit with a soft cream-white cuff and a loop for hanging.
  • Your letter or a snowflake — any capital letter from A to Z, embroidered in red with a tiny Santa hat on top, or a red embroidered snowflake instead.
  • One for everyone — hang a row of them on the mantel, the stair rail or the bedroom door.
  • Easy gift — fill it, hang it, done.

What you get
One knit Christmas stocking with the letter or snowflake you choose.

Care
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Lay flat to dry.

Meet Projeto CAPA

Along São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, Projeto CAPA looks after the capybaras who live right beside one of the city’s busiest roads. With their partner Belgo, they put up a protective fence along the riverbank, and it is working.
