A Projeto CAPA volunteer feeding wild capybaras by the Pinheiros River in São Paulo

Projeto CAPA

São Paulo, Brazil

Projeto CAPA watches over the wild capybaras of São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, freeing them from trash and keeping them safe. The fences they installed cut road deaths from 15 in 2023 to 1 in 2026.

How we help real animals
Description

A starfish can regrow a lost arm, and a crab can regrow a lost claw. The Tide Pool Plush crew prefers to stay in one soft piece.

  • Real size — the crab is about 26 cm (10.2 in), the starfish about 20 cm (7.9 in) and the scallop shell about 15 cm (5.9 in).
  • Three sea friends — a golden orange crab with big claws, a blush pink starfish with raised dots, or a cream scallop shell with a pink rim and soft ribs.
  • Soft short plush — easy to squeeze and cute on a shelf, a desk or the bed.
  • Easy gift — for the beach lover in your life (or for you, no judgment).

Meet Projeto CAPA

Along São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, Projeto CAPA looks after the capybaras who live right beside one of the city’s busiest roads. With their partner Belgo, they put up a protective fence along the riverbank, and it is working.
