A Projeto CAPA volunteer feeding wild capybaras by the Pinheiros River in São Paulo

Projeto CAPA

São Paulo, Brazil

Projeto CAPA watches over the wild capybaras of São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, freeing them from trash and keeping them safe. The fences they installed cut road deaths from 15 in 2023 to 1 in 2026.

How we help real animals
Description

In winter, some zoos in Japan run warm baths for their capybaras, with citrus fruit floating on top. The Capybara Flannel Blanket is the dry, sofa version of that.

  • Real size — about 70 x 100 cm (27.6 x 39.4 in). A lap-and-nap size for the sofa, a desk chair or the car.
  • Soft, thick flannel — warm, light and cozy against the skin, for cold offices and movie nights.
  • Three prints — Stacked Capybaras (a pile of round capybara faces and a little "Hi:" on peach), Mandarin Capybaras (sleepy capybaras with little mandarins and the word "CAPYBARA" on cream) and Starry Capybara (one big capybara and yellow stars on tan brown).
  • Easy gift — for the capybara fan who is always a little cold.

What you get
One capybara flannel blanket, about 70 x 100 cm (27.6 x 39.4 in).

Care
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, or hand wash. Hang to dry, away from direct heat.

Meet Projeto CAPA

Along São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, Projeto CAPA looks after the capybaras who live right beside one of the city’s busiest roads. With their partner Belgo, they put up a protective fence along the riverbank, and it is working.
