A Projeto CAPA volunteer feeding wild capybaras by the Pinheiros River in São Paulo

Projeto CAPA

São Paulo, Brazil

Projeto CAPA watches over the wild capybaras of São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, freeing them from trash and keeping them safe. The fences they installed cut road deaths from 15 in 2023 to 1 in 2026.

How we help real animals
Description

Capybaras can nap in the water with just their noses poking out. The Sleepy Capybara Plush Backpack naps on your back while you do the walking.

  • Real size — about 28 cm (11 in) tall. Sized for the everyday basics: phone, wallet, keys and a snack.
  • Fluffy capybara face — caramel-brown plush with little round ears, sleepy stitched eyes and a big chocolate-brown snout.
  • Front pocket — with a little star patch embroidered with "capybara", for lip balm, earbuds or a transit card.
  • Easy gift — for the capybara fan in your life (or for you, no judgment).

What you get
One capybara plush backpack.

Care
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Let it air dry.

Meet Projeto CAPA

Along São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, Projeto CAPA looks after the capybaras who live right beside one of the city’s busiest roads. With their partner Belgo, they put up a protective fence along the riverbank, and it is working.
