A Projeto CAPA volunteer feeding wild capybaras by the Pinheiros River in São Paulo

Projeto CAPA

São Paulo, Brazil

Projeto CAPA watches over the wild capybaras of São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, freeing them from trash and keeping them safe. The fences they installed cut road deaths from 15 in 2023 to 1 in 2026.

How we help real animals
Description

In dim light a cat's pupils can open so wide they fill almost the whole eye, which is how cats see so well at dusk. The Wide-Eyed Cat Backpack keeps that dusk look all day long.

  • A whole plush cat — a sitting cat in long, soft plush with huge round eyes, short front legs, dangling back legs and a long tail.
  • Three colors — Black with yellow eyes, Siamese with blue eyes, or Gray.
  • Two straps with buckles — wear it on your back like a little backpack.
  • Easy gift — for the cat person in your life (or for you, no judgment).

What you get
One plush cat backpack in the color you choose.

Care
Spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air dry. Brush the fur gently with your fingers to fluff it back up.

Meet Projeto CAPA

Along São Paulo’s Pinheiros River, Projeto CAPA looks after the capybaras who live right beside one of the city’s busiest roads. With their partner Belgo, they put up a protective fence along the riverbank, and it is working.
